GV Hotels began in 1999 as GV Pension House. It ran a 20-room hotel in Maasin City, Leyte, with the goal of making accommodations affordable, practical, and budget-friendly for all types of travelers, from sales agents to backpackers to executives.
GV Hotels initially catered to traveling sales agents, who are known for looking for affordable, yet clean and secure, hotels in the areas they visit. In 2004, GV Hotels began construction on its flagship hotel and main office, GV Tower Hotel, in downtown Cebu City, as a testament to its commitment to providing affordable accommodation to all. It would later become the tallest structure in downtown Cebu, and a landmark in the area.
