Mandate of the CEBU CITY Tourism Office

The Cebu City Tourism Office (CCTO) was created by virtue of Cebu City Ordinance No. 2129 dated September 19, 2007, entitled: “An Ordinance Creating the Cebu City Tourism Office Under the Office of the Mayor” signed on October 1, 2007 by former Mayor Tomas R. Osmeña with former Vice-Mayor and now incumbent Mayor Michael L. Rama. The said office was created considering the vast numbers of world-class “tourism-asset” sites that were affected by the devolution of tourism-related businesses and regulation of establishments within the territorial jurisdiction of local government units (LGUs) which suffered a limp at that time due to the absence of an appropriate office that will solely focus on tourism-oriented work.

With its creation, the Cebu City Tourism Office was tasked to conserve, promote and implement the plans, projects and activities related to tourism in the City of Cebu. In its Declaration of Policy, the Cebu City Tourism Office shall be a responsive and effective body in showcasing Cebu City as a primary tourist destination through its dynamic, innovative and relevant programs by being a model Tourism Office that could efficiently and effectively implement and regulate the standards required for sustainable tourism in the City of Cebu.  Likewise, the Cebu City Tourism Office shall act as an implementing arm of the Cebu City Government and the Cebu City Tourism Commission to ensure a sustainable tourism industry through the Commission’s proper implementation of programs and policies.
